8 Steps to Better Headshots: prep tips for your session

8 steps to better headshots: the new episode in my ‘Take Control of Your Headshots’ series looks at how to prepare to get the most of your next headshot shoot.

While most good headshot photographers have lots of advice and expertise to offer, and indeed they’ll view you neutrally, they only meet you for a few hours. You (and your agent) know you and your casting best.

And what clothes should you wear, what colours and necklines will look good on camera, how much makeup should you use, and what about hair styles or facial hair?

All these things need thinking about before the day, and it’s why I always say you should treat your session like a trip to the hairdresser, not to the dentist.

Go with a very simple brief, a plan for your side of the bargain, to meet the photographer’s skill and insights, so you can both go a few steps further on the day of the shoot

So, in this next in my ‘Take Control of Your Headshots’ series, I’m offering a light and informative 8-step checklist to Preparing for Your Next Headshot Session. Hit ‘read more’ for the video’
